Bitumen Ablaze

Vulture St & Grey St, South Brisbane QLD
This artwork follows neo-expressionism and consists of abstracted symbols. The background is a drawing of a historic photograph of the South Brisbane area from a bird’s eye view perspective. The cross hatching imagery symbolises tally marks and the passing of time. The colour palette of browns, dark greys and off-tone green reference the varying shades of concrete and bitumen of Vulture Street. The neon pink alludes to the fire on Vulture Street that occurred in November of 2019. The running pink lines imply the notion of travelling and established routes.
