Creek Rd & Garrett St & Condamine Blvd, Murarrie QLD
In our local area we are often abruptly interrupted by the piercing shriek of a sulphur crested cockatoo. When considering the design for the traffic signal box I was interested in connecting to the local environment. When I saw the location of the box, outside a pocket of bushland and down the road from Murarrie State School I knew what I wanted to create. This design is a reimagining of a stylised collage illustration of cockatoos causing a ruckus in an old gum tree. A piece which captured the beauty and joy of our local environment and would hopefully bring a smile to kids faces on their way to school. I wanted the creation to be bright but not imposing on the natural environment.
