Space Kids

Kittyhawk Drive & New Street, Chermside QLD
Our design refers to Kidspace playground, part of the larger 7th Brigade Park. When it was first proposed, the community wanted an outer-space theme, hence the children in space suits on the slides. Kidspace was a joint project between the Council and Aspley Lions Club, and its construction involved 900 volunteers, local RSL members, and BCC and Australian Army personnel. Symbolic poppies bloom in our park image, and ‘Polly’ the Kittyhawk cruises watchfully above.
